The same question, two answers
A buyer emails: “Just send me a price.” This is what a general AI assistant suggested, and what Allin suggested, when we asked both in October 2026.
| General AI assistant | Allin Sales Brain | |
|---|---|---|
| The advice | Give a price or a realistic range, so you don't look like you are hiding it | Don't quote yet. A number before you know the problem drops you into a comparison you can only lose on price |
| What to say | “Our pricing usually runs from $X to $Y depending on scope. How many users do you need?” | “I'd be guessing right now, and a guess helps neither of us. Give me 20 minutes, or would you rather I send a range?” |
| What you learn | Nothing. You are now one quote among several | Whether there is a real problem, or they are collecting quotes |
| Technique named | None | Take it off the table |
Comparison as of October 2026. Features and pricing change, check each vendor's site.
The general answer is not stupid. It is the most common answer, because it is what most sales content says. Read why the other answer closes more deals.
Where ChatGPT is a good sales tool
- Writing and shortening emails, proposals and LinkedIn messages.
- Summarising call notes and pulling out next steps.
- Researching a company before a first meeting.
- Brainstorming questions, as long as you choose which ones to ask.
Where it falls short
- It averages. Ask about pricing, discounts or follow ups and you get the consensus view, which is often what loses deals for small sellers.
- It has no method. Ask the same question twice and you may get two approaches. A coach should be consistent, so you can learn the pattern.
- It is too agreeable. It rarely tells you a deal is not worth chasing. A good coach does, because a clear no saves you a month.
- It does not name the technique. Without a name you cannot practise it. Allin tells you when it is agreeing the meeting goal, asking pain questions or taking it off the table.
You don't have to choose
Allin is not another chat app. It is a sales method written down as a knowledge base. Use it as a chat in your browser, or add the link as a custom connector (MCP) in the AI you already use, and your usual AI answers sales questions with that method. Which plans can add a custom connector is set by each AI provider:
| Where | Can you add Allin as a connector? |
|---|---|
| Browser | Yes, always. No other account needed |
| Claude | Yes, on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. The Free plan allows one custom connector |
| ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, Edu | Yes, with full MCP support |
| ChatGPT Pro | Partly: custom MCP connectors with read and fetch access only |
| Other ChatGPT plans | Not listed by OpenAI. Use Allin in the browser |
| Perplexity | Yes, on Pro, Max and Enterprise |
| Gemini | Yes, on personal Google accounts for users 18 or older in the US, in English. Not on work or school accounts |

That gives you both: ChatGPT for writing and research, and Allin for the decisions that win or lose the deal: what to ask, when to quote, and when to walk away.
Choose plain ChatGPT if
- You mostly need help writing, not deciding what to do in a deal.
- You already follow a sales method you trust, and just want a drafting partner.
Add Allin if
- You sell alone, and nobody reviews your deals with you.
- You want advice from one tested method, not the average of the internet.
- You want to rehearse a call with a tough buyer and hear which reply was weakest.
- Your deals are between $2,000 and $150,000, and one lost deal costs more than the subscription.
